Language Training Materials
In an effort to address the increasing demand for mobile equipment training for Spanish speaking workers, the Ives Training Group announces the launch of its line of Spanish language training materials. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported during 2000, Hispanic workers nationwide had a fatality rate of 5.2 per 100,000. It is with this in mind Ives creates Spanish versions of its industry-leading OSHA-compliant Operator Certification Packages, Re-certification kits and overhead transparencies. The format and content of the Spanish language compliance packages are the same as the English versions and come with the following materials: operator workbook; certification folder; operator theory tests; practical evaluation forms; wallet-sized operator certification cards; full-sized certificate of completion; and record sheet for recording the required training and evaluation information.

Wireless Fax
Rovenet releases its latest version of P-Fax, the world’s first completely wireless fax solution for hand held computers. This software program, which operates on hand held computers using the Palm O/S operating system, allows users to send, receive and now for the first time view faxes directly on hand held computers. A component of this new version of P-Fax is Rovenet’s release of the P-Forms mobile document management system. P-Forms allows mobile business people from their hand held wireless computer to access, customize and send business correspondence, contracts, sales orders, purchase orders and any other documents via e-mail, fax, U.S. mail or overnight carrier.

Ground Heater
The AC1100 from Ground Heaters enables contractors to prepare building sites and pour concrete, indoors and out, all winter long. Able to thaw up to 1,650 square feet of frozen ground at a rate of 1 foot per day, the heater can also heat up to 2,200 square feet of ground to prepare for concrete placement, to prevent frost penetration or to ensure proper concrete curing. Equipped with 1,100 feet of Transfer Hose, the unit’s 126,000 BTU/hr hydronic heater brings the propylene glycol Heat Transfer Fluid up to 180 F. A positive displacement pump circulates the fluid through the hoses, which conducts dry, radiant heat directly into the ground, concrete or work space.

General Equipment's 190C Cut-R-Tach rotary asphalt cutting attachment is specifically designed as a heavy-duty high production solution to a wide range of asphalt cutting projects. The 190C clamps directly to the buckets of tractor loader backhoes and wheel/track type loaders without special tools, modifications or adapters. A 19-inch diameter-cutting blade is machined from service-duty alloy steel and yields a maximum asphalt cutting depth of 5½ inches. With a blade life of more than 25,000 lineal feet, it is field replaceable without disturbing bearings or seals.
Michelin Earthmover has designed the X Lisse Compacteur radial tire. The non-sticking tread compound virtually eliminates the problem of paving material sticking to the tire and allows for performance on hot road surfaces and even compaction. The tread and shoulder areas of the tire help resist cuts and punctures, while providing even pressure distribution. It comes in the following sizes: 7.50 R15 and 13/80 R20.
Portable Power, a business unit of Ingersoll-Rand, introduces a new 290 cfm compressor with innovations such as a dual pressure regulator that offers contractors two pressure settings for a variety of applications. Parts from the VHP290 can be used on other Ingersoll-Rand compressor models and will also have the same configuration so they can be exchanged anywhere in the world. Additional features include glow plugs, low fuel alarms, low-fuel shut down, water/fuel separator, inline fuel filters and a fuel tank that boasts a run capacity of at least nine hours.
Wylie introduces the Ice Killer Auto-Skid, a self-loading skid that loads into most dump trucks without any lifting. The support legs automatically fold as the truck backs under the skid. The product is designed for DOT’s municipalities, airports and other entities that need to apply de-icing/anti-icing agents, using existing trucks. It can also be converted to herbicide spraying for year-round versatility.
DeWalt’s new DW073 and DW071 manually leveled cordless rotary lasers feature a protected head and dual laser diodes for a brighter beam and long range leveling up to 600 feet. The DW073 runs off standard DeWalt battery packs from 9.6 through 18 volts, while the DW071 uses 3 D alkaline batteries. A built-in mounting system works as floor mount, rack-and-pinion wall mount or with a tripod. A bump sensor detects if the tool is accidentally moved off level.
Terramite adds the Solo Screed to its roller screed division. This version is a single roller screed that contractors find ideal for parking lots, driveways, streets and sidewalks. The machine paves up to 16-foot widths and runs on a 4-horsepower Honda engine. It is self contained and all mechanical, making the screed simple to operate and efficient.
Lincoln announces its Ranger 8 is now available with a new engine choice — the Honda OHV. The Honda GX620 gasoline engine features 20-horsepower twin cylinder overhead valves at 3,600 rpm for plenty of power. In addition, this new air-cooled engine provides 100 hours of operation before the oil needs to be changed and 200 operating hours prior to an oil filter change. The new engine offers automatic engine shutdown protection for low oil pressure and circuit breaker protection of the battery/ignition system. 
Bil-Jax introduces the new DL 125 drywall lift, which features a 12-foot, 6-inch lifting height. It features heavy-duty dual cables for additional cable lift, 30-inch outriggers, which collapse to an 8-inch radius for convenient storage, and an automatic brake. The casters stay in contact with the ground at all times so even when the outriggers are collapsed the lift is easy to maneuver. The three-leg design allows for use closer to walls and holds 4- by 12-foot sheets of drywall.
Perfect for wire-feed/stick welding applications, MQ Power’s new DAW-500S delivers up to 500 amps of DC welding power for the largest jobs while maintaining its position as the smallest, most portable welder in its class. For operating tools and lights, the unit provides 3,000 watts of continuous 120 AC power. And with simultaneous operation of the welder and generator, two or more operators may use the same machine. In addition, easy parallel hookups mean two machines can be used together for twice the DC welding power.
Wacker introduces a value vibratory plate line. The VP line of small single direction plates offers basic Wacker features promoting quality and performance at a value price. This new plate line consists of 13 asphalt and soil models in four sizes with different engine options. All plates feature a special, open design, ductile iron baseplate that is self-cleaning for fast effective results.
The W9500HE industrial portable generator from Winco is built to withstand the rigors of constructions job sites and rental applications. With an 8.5 kilowatt rated output, the generator uses heavy-duty 100 percent copper windings for superior motor starting. The control panel has receptacles for both 120- and 240-volt output, with individual circuit breakers. Powered by a Honda 18-horsepower overhead valve engine with low oil protection, the generator has rugged wrap around welded steel cradle and powder paint finish that provide extra durability.
